Peroxiredoxin-2 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the PRDX2 gene. This gene encodes a member of the peroxiredoxin family of antioxidant enzymes, which reduce hydrogen peroxide and alkyl hydroperoxides. The encoded protein plays an antioxidant protective role in cells, and it may contribute to the antiviral activity of CD8(+) T-cells. The crystal structure of this protein has been resolved to 2.7 angstroms. This protein prevents hemolytic anemia from oxidative stress by stabilizing hemoglobin, thus making this gene a therapeutic target for patients with hemolytic anemia. It may have a proliferative effect and play a role in cancer development or progression. Related pseudogenes have been identified on chromosomes 5, 6, 10 and 13.

How the elisa works:
Sample the amount of 100ul/well of the standard solution at 20000pg/ml, 10000pg/ml, 5000pg/ml, 2500pg/ml, 1250pg/ml, 625pg/ml, 312pg/ml human Peroxiredoxin 2 standard solutions into the precoated 96-well plate. Add 0.1ml of the sample diluent buffers into the control well (Zero well). Add 0.1ml of each properly diluted sample of human cell culture supernatant, cell lysate, tissue homogenates, serum or plasma (heparin, EDTA) to the ELISA plate. Keep in mind that each human Peroxiredoxin 2 standard solution and each sample be measured in duplicate.
