Antigen background:
Involved in redox regulation of the cell. Reduces peroxides with reducing equivalents provided through the thioredoxin system. It is not able to receive electrons from glutaredoxin. May play an important role in eliminating peroxides generated during metabolism. Might participate in the signaling cascades of growth factors and tumor necrosis factor-alpha by regulating the intracellular concentrations of H(2)O(2).

Specificity:
This is a highly specific antibody against Peroxiredoxin 2. This antibody may have a minor secondary cross-reactivity to related protein Peroxiredoxin 1 due to a 71% non-sequential sequence similarity over the immunogen range.
Storage conditions:
Keep the antibody in an aqueous buffered solution containing 1% BSA, 50% glycerol and 0.09% sodium azide. Store refrigerated at 2 to 8 degrees Celcius for up to 1 year.
